The Bilingual Payroll Adminstrator is responsible the weekly payroll of over 800 unionized employees and 12 bargining units.

Given the scope of this role, there a several critical success factors.

1. 2-3 years payroll experience within a unionized environment

3. SAP Time and Attendance

• Process Quebec weekly hourly union payrolls in ADP Pay Specialist software and ensure that employees are paid accurately, on time and adhering to legislative compliance.
• Perform payroll balance routines.
• Update employee master data in SAP HR and verify accuracy of data transfer in ADP.
• Process new hire paperwork, employee promotions, transfers, increases and terminations.
• Calculate and process manual payments as required
• Respond to relevant departmental and employee queries.
• Provide administrative support for Kronos time management system on behalf of each operating facility.
• Liaise with other departments to clarify, resolve, increase understanding and provide information when necessary.
• Prepare month-end accruals, account reconciliation’s, corrective payroll journal entries, preparation and remittance of various government forms (i.e. ROE, T4).
• Assist the Payroll department by identifying opportunities for improvements to processes and participating in monitoring key performance indicators and logging performance measures.

Key Attributes of the Ideal Candidate Include:

• Post secondary education, minimum of a College diploma, with a concentration in accounting or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
• Completed Level 1 Canadian Payroll Association’s CPM program
• Minimum three (3) years direct experience in a high volume, complex payroll administration for a Quebec union environment
• Team Player that brings a positive attitude and approach to a fast paced and ever-changing environment
• High attention to detail and data accuracy with strict adherence to security policies and handling of confidential information
• Bilingual French and English a must.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills and ability to handle multiple priorities
• Self-starter who is able to work effectively in a team as well as independently, ability to meet tight deadlines and problem solve.
• Proficient with ADP Pay Specialist software and reporting module, SAP HR application, Kronos time and attendance application, Microsoft Office products such as Excel and Word.
