Cost Accountant Job Description Our client is a multi-billion global consumer products company who are seeking a Cost Accountant for a 6 month contract with the high likelihood of leading to full-time. Reporting to the Manager of Costing, the Cost Accountant will be responsible for the following: 1. Manufacturing Account and Reporting: • Closely monitor financial transactions and production reporting to ensure completeness and accuracy • Report to Management Monthly and Weekly Plant Performance results highlighting significant issues • Monitor and Analyze cost center reports • Analyze Manufacturing variances and Report to Management any risks/opportunities including action items to mitigate risks • Month end manufacturing closing including Executive Summary of results • Adherence to Policies and Procedures • Responsible for Sox Compliance and Documentation including Sox Testing • Monitor and strengthen Internal Controls • Maintain standard costs for all new products • Reconcile and report Intercompany cost of sales 2. Annual Operating Plan/Strategy Plan/Forecasts/Projects: • Preparation of Manufacturing Expense Budgets including calculation of overhead absorption rates • Determine and update costs of Raw materials used in calculating annual standard costs • Work with Manufacturing Team to ensure BOM's are complete and accurate • Calendarization of Manufacturing Variances and Inventory levels • Participate in Manufacturing Projects including financial analysis • Update annual standard costs 3. Inventory Control: • Closely monitor and control all Manufacturing inventory movements • Calculate slow moving and physical count reserves • Log, monitor and update SAP with products shipped on Non-Product Authorization for all locations • Co-ordinate the Manufacturing Physical Inventory Count including analysis and posting of final results • Perform other inventory adjustments eg disposal in SAP with proper authorization for all locations • Reporting of Manufacturing Inventory levels eg. Finished Goods, RIP and Raw Materials 4. Other Costing and financial duties as assigned Qualifications: • Post-Secondary education, preferably in related field • 5+ years related experience • Minimum 3rd Level CGA/CMA student • Sound knowledge in Costing • Strong Team Player • Ability to work independently • Excellent Communication skills • Ability to analyze data and provide solutions • Strong PC skills ie Excel, Access knowledge of SAP would be an asset • Manufacturing background would also be an asset • Must be able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines Salary: 33.00 per hour Positions Available: 1 Contact: Gary Tohill JobID: GT1022 PLEASE NOTE Principals only, recruiters, please don't contact us regarding this job position.
